Treeing Walker CoonhoundFor more years than I care to share, I had the absoluteRussell Terrier THRILL to attend the Westminster Kennel Club Dog show in New York City at Madison Square Gardens. I always stayed at the (then called) Hotel Pennsylvania...the "doggy hotel." You ain't lived until you've shared an elevator with a dozen or more gorgeous purebred dogs!

The American Kennel Club recently announced the addition of the Lagotto Romagnolo and Berger Picard into the Miscellaneous Class, and the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno (left) and Chinook (bottom right), growing AKC's family to 177 breeds. Now, that's a lot of dogs! Images American Kennel ClubChinook

This year the big Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is February 11-12th, and has grown so large with 3200 dogs of 187 different breeds, it's held two places: Madison Square Gardens and Piers 92/94. In past year's there have been "specialties" held over at the Piers (one breed, for example) and this is a great venue to help accommodate the growing crowds, exhibitors, dogs and vendors.

The Westminster Kennel Club website offers two types of tickets. The Piers ticket is $25 for each day's general admission to the judging held at Piers 92 and 94, and are available at the door as well. Madison Square Garden tickets, priced at $50 per evening, include reserved seating for the evening and access to the benching areas where daily Best of Breed winners will greet their fans.

This year for the first time Three Attendees will win an ALL ACCESS ticket to the show. Now through January 31, 2013 (12PM EST, Friday), anyone who purchased, or will purchase Piers or "Go Anywhere" tickets for the event, will be automatically entered, and winners will be chosen at random on Monday February 4. Here's what you could win:

  • Two passes to the VIP party on Saturday, February 9th
  • Two passes to the Best in Show After-Party on Tuesday, February 12th
  • Meet & Greet with David Frei, TV show Host and Tom Bradley, Chair of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show
  • Ticket/seat upgrades

David FreiThis year the Magical-Dawg and I will watch the big show from the sofa and cheer on our favorites. What's your breed pick to take home the trophy? Tune in to the live broadcast on CNBC (Monday) and USA Network (Tuesday) beginning at 8pm ET each evening--hosted by the incomparable David Frei, the "voice" of the Westminster Kennel Club Show.

I’m gone to convey my little brother, that he should also go to see this website on regular basis to get updated from hottest reports.
