Lately there have been some scary stories in the news about compounding pharmacies and contaminated medicine that has sadly injured a number of people. But compounding CAN be a wonderful tool in both human prescriptions and veterinary medicine.
Think about it. People generally will take the medicine that's prescribed in whatever form, when the doctor tells them it's a good idea. But your sick puppy already feels yucky and won't be in the mood to open wide and gulp down a gigantic pill. Even hiding the medicine in a hunk of cheesy treat may not always work.
But a compounded medication can be created that tastes and smells good to the puppy, or even can be absorbed through the skin. Learn more about compounding puppy medicines in my latest article.
