PEDIGREE Food Recall

Yes, I know, it's deja vu all over again. This time, canned products in the weight management line inadvertently ended up contaminated with small pieces of blue plastic, which could be a choking hazard. Apparently a conveyor belt broke, and small pieces ended up in some of the canned foods. You can return the products to the store for full refund, or simply discard them--the stores have been notified and affected products should be off the shelves.

It's unlikely that any puppies are being fed this ration (puppies shouldn't be on a calorie--restricted food), but other dogs in your household may be at risk. There haven't to date been reports of injury or illness, but the potential for choking or intestinal blockage from a swallowed foreign object is there.

Only three varieties of the canned weight management foods are affected, and this problem with the manufacturing process has apparently been resolved. The official site has information about what happened, the UPC numbers of the products involved, and how to identify possible products. Go here to learn more.
