I'm planning holiday trips over the next couple of weeks, how about you? Will you take the new puppy with you to Grandma's house? Don't forget to get him ready with these car riding tips.
My husband can't get off work and so he'll stay home with the Magical-Dawg while I visit my family. But the times when we have been able to travel together, Magic stayed with his breeder and had a wonderful time playing with the other German shepherds. It's always a good idea to feel comfortable about the place you entrust to care for the fur-kid while you're away. Veterinarians often offer boarding services, or you can enlist the aid of a house sitter or board at a kennel.
Before you board your puppy, though, check with the vet about having him or her vaccinated against kennel cough. It's spread the same way you catch a cold--through direct contact or from coughing. And it's called kennel cough because places that board dogs or that have crowds of dogs are most likely to spread the disease.
Learn more about kennel cough in my latest article. Find out the symptoms, how to prevent, and what you can do at home to ease your baby-dog's symptoms if he happens to catch the bug.
