During shedding season I could make a whole new dog out of the fuzz that comes off of my Magical-Dawg. But then, he's a full grown German Shepherd. What about puppies? Do they shed?
Absolutely! Even though they may not have a full adult coat when shedding season rolls around, all puppy breeds do shed. Some lose more fur than others, of course. And that cute "puppy coat" often looks quite a bit different than the luxurious locks the dog will gain once mature. You might think that the timing of shedding has to do with the temperature. If that was the case, though, dogs would go bald in the summer, wouldn't they? Actually, seasonal sheds have much more to do with the amount of light. And even the "non-shedding" breeds actually DO shed--they just don't do it all at once. Learn all about why and how puppies shed in this latest article.
